"Wheelchair access is not good but staff are brilliant"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Dermatology

(as a service user),

The receptionist is always kind and helpful. My consultant, Laura, is first class. All the staff are brilliant.

The problem is with the building. I have a disability and use a wheelchair. The corridors are very narrow and the consultation rooms and toilets are small. They need a new building.

But all the staff are brilliant. I've had nothing but the best of treatment from all of them.

Dear dancebg65,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about the team here in Dermatology, I am pleased to hear you feel you have had a positive experience surrounding your treatment.

I am so very sorry to hear that it is difficult, as a wheelchair user, accessing areas of the department due to small clinic spaces, corridors and toilets. I completely agree the building layout and space creates huge challenges for patients and relatives with mobility needs.

Whilst there is little we can do currently to improve the building, we do attempt to keep all areas clear to maximise the space we have, we are always happy to help our patients, should you need help at any future appointments, please don't hesitate to contact us and we can prepare as best we can to ensure you have a more comfortable experience.

I would be more than happy to discuss this further should you wish to.

Kind regards

Alicia
