"A rude manner and lack of explanation"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

My infant child has come in for the second time after being sent home. Tested positive for Covid on her first visit since then Two negative results - yet the bedside manner of some staff about this is awful.

Her own nurses have been amazing and also night staff, but to be told you have to stay in the room in such a rude manner and lacking an explanation.

It feels as though some don’t actually want to be here. Bedside manner is one of the most important things!

Dear mother123

My name is Yvonne and I am the ward manager in the Children's Ward.

I hope you and your daughter are keeping well.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. I can only apologize for the way you were spoken to by one of our staff. This is not how we expect our staff to treat parents and is unacceptable. I will share your comment with the team and I hope the person in question realizes the impact their attitude can have.

I will also pass on your compliment to the nurses.

Kind regards

Yvonne
