"Dislocated patella"

About: Borders General Hospital / Accident & Emergency Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a parent/guardian),

On a very busy day at BGH, my son was brought in by ambulance following a fall, he had dislocated his kneecap.   I met the ambulance at A&E. He was being looked after by Paramedics Jamie and India and student Paramedic Mia. He was puffing away on entonox and was calm. I can not thank the team enough for looking after him the way they did, he was laughing and I could see he felt at ease with them.  With advice from Advanced Paramedic Andy, they popped his kneecap back in place and like the champ he is, didn't make a sound.

Thank you all so much for your kindness, expert care and attention in these challenging times. Praise to all the staff working in A&E and throughout the BGH 💙 Also a huge thank you to the members of the public at Tesco who came to his aid and called the ambulance xx

Dear aprillh78

Thank you for sharing your story. It must have been a very worrying time for you but it sounds like your son was a real trooper.

If you would like me to pass on your thanks to Jamie, India, Mia and Andy may I ask that you contact our Patient Experience Team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, Care Opinion name, your son's name and the address and date we attended.

I do hope he is feeling better now.

Kindest regards

David

Morning aprillh78,

Thank you for your kind words about the Emergency Department at the BGH. We strive to deliver the best care we can to the people of the Borders. Sounds like there was great care pre hospital with the Ambulance team too. I hope all is well now.
