"Missed referral for heart scan leading to long delay"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I was referred for a heart scan in July 2023 after being seriously ill. I had not received an appointment at the end of July.

I had an appointment with the respiratory consultant who recommended that I have a heart scan and I have been waiting for a further appointment. I phoned at the beginning of January 2024 and was advised that the referral had been missed and I would not be prioritised and still had an approximate 32 week wait.

This has caused me a high level of anxiety. I am extremely disappointed, and feel as this was a mistake on the part of the hospital I should have been prioritised.
