I feel totally traumatised as do my family due to the complete lack of consideration my dad was given to be transported way too late. My dad suffered stroke & admitted to QEUH ICU & then admitted to ward 62 Neuro unit in QEUH, where he received care & waited for five days for side room.
A week after suffering stroke with chest infection there was a huge rush before change of shift to move him to a side room at the opposite end of the hospital. He didn’t make it to the side room, due to lack of oxygen while being transported unaccompanied by medical person from ward.
This was just horrendous & a most traumatic experience, my dad & my family have had to deal with. From now on I will question everything, not rely on staff being competent, as some of them appear to be far from competent.
My dad had no ID bracelet, no notes, no medical escort & not enough oxygen to ensure he made it to where he was being transported to, again at too late a stage in his end of life care.
