"My sons foot"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Whitehills Health & Community Care Centre / Minor Injuries

(as a parent/guardian),

My sons foot was swollen up and uncomfortable to touch or walk on. Called 111 and after a wait, I spoke with a very helpful nurse who gave some good advice on the phone. Then another helpful nurse called with a very prompt appointment. We attended our local minor Injuries department and met with a lovely, very knowledgeable nurse, who helped my son feel so at ease. They examined the toe, got to issue and gave great after-care advice. A fantastic experience.

Dear 2011gamer

I'm sorry to learn of your son's foot issue. I hope he is doing well.

Thanks so much for providing complimentary feedback for the staff who cared for your son. This is great to see.

I'm sorry for any wait time you experienced when attempting to access NHS 24. We do appreciate waiting for a call to be answered can be frustrating. I'm pleased however, when you got through, our staff were able to assist and a referral was made for your son to be seen face to face.

We always like to share such feedback with our staff members directly, therefore, if you were able to contact us with some additional detail, then we could do this. Our Patient Experience Team can be contacted at Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

Thanks again and best wishes to you both.

Regards

Shona

Dear 2011gamer

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments about the care your son received on care opinion. We really appreciate this, especially when everyone is so busy nowadays. It's so nice to read you had a fantastic experience when your son needed review for a swollen foot. We understand that it can sometimes seem like a long wait to get advice or help but by phoning NHS 24 we were able to offer you a prompt appointment in Whitehills Minor Injury Unit. This allows patient's to stay in the comfort of their own home until they need to be seen.

The nursing staff in the Minor Injury Unit will be so pleased to know that they put your son at ease. It can be very worrying for both adults and children attending any hospital appointment for fear of the unknown. The nursing staff in the Minor injury service in Angus work hard to relay anxieties and fears and reassure patients about their condition. They have also completed advanced courses to allow them to assess and manage many conditions safely. I’m so glad you also got good after care advice, we recognise that this is vital for patients to manage their condition successfully.

I hope your son’s painful toe has improved. I will pass on your lovely message to the staff in Whitehills Minor Injury unit who I’m sure will be delighted. Thank you again it’s much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Anne
