"A massive and heartfelt thank you to all staff"

About: Moyle Hospital / Inver Intermediate Care Unit

(as a relative),

My wife who suffers from Dementia fell and broke her hip.

After surgery, while we as a family tried to find her a place in a nursing home, she was placed in Inver House, an Intermediate Care facility and part of the Moyle Hospital in Larne, Co. Antrim. It was anticipated by us as a family this would be a short stop and she would move on to a nursing home pretty quickly.  This short stop lasted six months as there were so many disappointments when it came to getting a place in a nursing home.

That six months let me see the NHS and Inver House in particular at its best.  I believe that a happy workplace creates a more productive workforce and I witnessed the living proof of this every day.  I am not overstating this when I say that I watched nurses and HCAs going about their task with a smile and often singing.  It was a pleasure to witness the love for their chosen vocation.

My wife because of her dementia could be difficult and aggressive and the love, compassion and dignity with which she was treated on a daily basis was a joy to behold and was much appreciated by us as a family.  This didn't stop at my wife as we as a family received more love and friendship in that six months than I can ever remember being the recipient of in such a short space of time.

I also discovered that everyone was very approachable from HCAs right through to the two deputy sisters and their immediate superior.

What we experienced cannot be provided on prescription and the love and care that my wife and we as a family received went far beyond duty.

From this family, a massive and heartfelt thank you to all staff at Inver House for what you did for us.

Dear Well Pleased 24*,

My name is Claire Bond and I am the Lead Nurse for Inver Intermediate Care Unit. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience.

I am sorry to hear that your wife had a fall which led to a fracture and that she required hospital treatment. I am sure this has been a difficult time for you all!

I am pleased to hear that the staff in Inver created such a positive environment for your wife, you and the rest of your family. The staff in Inver all hold a shared passion for delivering the highest person centered care possible to all their patients. Through reading your story I am delighted to hear of the care and compassion you all received.

I am sure that the last six months while she has been waiting for an appropriate Nursing Home has been difficult for you and your family but, I truly hope that your wife is settling in well to her new home and that your family are adjusting to this change.

Thank you again for leaving this lovely feedback, I will share it with all the staff in Inver as they will be delighted to know of the impact they have made.

Warmest wishes,

Claire
