Anything else?
I attended the hospital on Monday 14th October 2013, for a gastroscopy. I arrived an hour and a quarter early - I walked - only to find that the time of my appointment on the receptionist's schedule was an hour later than the time I had been given over the telephone: I would have been waiting for more than two and a half hours. The staff were most helpful and obliging and managed to 'fit me in' almost on the dot as originally scheduled. I found all members of the unit helpful, friendly and knowledgable. In particular I would like to pay tribute to the doctor. He kept me informed at all times, treated me like an intelligent person, and - I used to work for the NHS Executive - had none of the 'little tin god' syndrome which I used to regularly encounter with the multitude of doctors that I worked with over a 25 year period. The prognosis was favourable, the only small drawback was my walk home in the rain. I would not hesitate to recommend the hospital to friends and family. I have an aversion to hospitals in general - my sympathy lies with the staff - but this time it was almost a pleasure!
