My grandmother has been an inpatient in ward 6c in Raigmore. The nursing care and discharge planning has been terrible.
The domestics and hcsw/ housekeeper however have been brilliant. It's a shame that something as simple as communication and basic discharge planning has been neglected. So many failures it makes me very sad to think what happens to elderly and vulnerable patients who dont have a family to advocate for them.
My grandmother who in her late 80's is desperate to come home and rightly so. However after informing staff multiple times abour granny's discharge needs, care package details and social work input, there was a long delay in contacting them.
Then got a phone call to say she was fit for discharge but no one had checked with any of these services. It's unreasonable to consider sending deaf elderly person home, in an amber weather warning, to a rural community with almost no social care planning.
