First of all I fell on black ice and broke my ankle while at work. The paramedics that came for me were 2 very nice ladies who put me at ease from the start I only remember one of the names which was karen.
Once in the hospital I was quickly assessed and x-rayed and scheduled in for surgery the next day. Surgery went well. I was moved to ward b23 where the staff were amazing and helped me with everything that I needed. My only complaint was the fact that the hospital have now decided that all wards should have an extra bed in every one, which ment that I was in bed 27.5 therefore I had a doorbell instead of a buzzer to contact staff and just a screen to use instead of a curtain round my bed, No TV or cabinet to keep my things. I feel that this is only adding to the pressure for staff in the hospital as the staff are very busy without the added patients to the wards.
Despite this, the staff in the ward were mostly there when I called for them. Due to needing the bed I was moved for my last night down to day surgery, the staff in here were also very good and were there for me when I needed them. A few days after I got discharged I could feel an unusual pain in my ankle so called hospital and was asked to go into the fracture clinic/plaster room where I met with a nurse and nursing assistant called Karen and Arlene who took off my heavy cast and checked my wound and cleaned it up. Both ladies put me at ease and reassured me that my ankle was looking good and healing as it should. Gave me some good advice and some good information on things I should and shouldn't be doing. All in all my experience has been positive and have great confidence that if I need any more help or advice I will get this without an issue.
