"Called 111"

About: London Ambulance Service NHS Trust

(as the patient),

The person I spoke to was extremely rude about the situation I was in. I wanted medical advise regarding lower abdomen pain (which I repeated multiple times) and I kept getting asked about my genitals.

After a while, I was put on hold and told that there is no point calling an ambulance (something I mentioned that I didn’t want to do) and they didn’t help me at all regarding my pain. I had to ask if I can take painkillers to which they finally gave me some medical advise by saying yes. They told me that my GP will call me in the morning and then hung up on me.

I got a call from my GP in the morning to ask me about my genitals. I understand that you guys get plenty of calls, but I’m not calling you for the sake of calling you, I’m calling because I’m getting woken up because of the sever pain I am in. They couldn’t even inform my GP of what was actually wrong with me. They couldn’t give me any medical advise. They didnt seem to care that I’ve shown early signs of PKD. They seemed to just want to get of the phone and join their colleagues in the background with whatever joke they were having, and I could hear their laughter more than the person's voice on the phone.

We aren’t calling because we have nothing better to do in the early hours of the morning; we are calling because we are in pain.
