"Impressed with exemplary team working"

About: Adult Health Services / Podiatry University Hospital Monklands / Endocrinology (Ward 12)

(as a relative),

My husband has several complex health issues, as a result of which we have had contact with a wide range of health professionals and teams over recent years. From all of these the most impressive is the North Lanarkshire Podiatry Team.

We have had regular home visits treating a wound in his foot, and referrals to and treatment at the David Matthews Diabetes Centre at University Hospital Monklands when his condition suddenly deteriorated.

Without exception, every member of staff who has treated my husband has been highly skilled, thorough, supportive and caring.

In contrast with our experience in other situations, communication within the Team and between the Home Visiting Team and the Hospital Team has been first class. Referrals have been swiftly responded to and it is clear that information is shared. This is exemplary team working.

This team is clearly focused on patient care and everyone that we have come into contact with - from Reception Staff to health professionals - has been polite, friendly and very efficient.

Communication within the Team and with ourselves is exemplary. This Team keeps the patient involved in their care and unlike other teams keep in regular touch by telephone ensuring appointments are fulfilled and concerns are responded to in a timely fashion.

We are impressed.

(Apologies for a late response ... difficulties accessing the site to post a response.)

I am delighted that you and your husband have had such a positive experience when attending our Diabetes Podiatry service and interacting with the wider team in the David Matthews Centre.

I am conscious of how worrying it can be for our patients when a condition deteriorates quickly, so it is good to hear that not only has your husband’s clinical needs been met, but that all the staff involved have acted in an efficient and caring way.

I will be sure to pass along your kind comments to the wider team.

June Currie, Adult Diabetes Service Manager

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your experience. I am glad to hear that you and your husband have had such a positive experience with the community Podiatry home visit team. We work collaboratively with colleagues in the Diabetes service at University Hospital Monklands which makes it an effective and efficient process to escalate patients when things deteriorate.

I have made sure the team involved have received your comments. It really is a boost for them to receive positive feedback.

Best wishes

Claire James

Head of Podiatry
