I arrived quite distressed and in real discomfort following an eye injury. I was given directions to the A&E department by a member of staff wearing an NHS Lanyard. They were really helpful and it set the standard for the rest of my experience. I was greeted with professionalism and kindness. The receptionist was warm and considerate and the triage Nursing Sister was understanding and reassuring. The Locum Doctor was very personable, calming and gave clear explanations and his communication was excpetional. I needed an examination of my eye and it was done again with profressionalism and compassion. It was a relatively minor injury but I could not have been taken care of any better. I was made to feel in safe hands throughout. It was clear the staff individually and collectively skilled, confident and highly competent. As the examination, diagnosis and recommendations were concluded the Doctor, knowing I had been anxious and in some discomfort, touched my arm and in doing so just conveyed that reassaurance I perhaps needed in that moment. Exceptional. As a Nurse, a District Nurse and as someone who has held numerous Director and Chief Nursing roles over the past 20 years I could not have been cared for by more capable people. If you were judged on my experience alone I would say "Outstanding" in all Care Quality Commission Domains and I would be happy to share my views with them. Thank you for the care and personal attention I was given today. With kind regards. Gary
"Exceptional Care"
