I recently had surgery on my ankle, which was a brostrom procedure. Since that surgery I’ve had a lot of complications with my wound unfortunately, due to infection it reopened where they done the surgery. I was admitted to hospital and ward 108.
The staff on this ward were nothing short of outstanding. I saw first hand how difficult they have it, but they always had a positive attitude and a smile. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Stacy, Bronagh and Rachel run the ward so wonderfully, it is clear to see why it’s such a good environment to work in.
I have to also say a massive thanks to my surgeons. I had 2/3 different ones in Mr Shalaby, but Katrina was the main one and she was nothing short of exceptional. She really went out her way to try and make things better for me. Coming in to see me when she wasn’t even working and coming in after her shift had finished just to ensure I was OK.
I ended up needing an emergency operation to clear the infection out of my ankle because the IV antibiotics hadn’t worked as well as we had hoped and she put me at complete ease throughout despite my apprehension. I honestly believe it was her quick thinking that prevented things from being much worse than they were. She is an absolute credit to the NHS and a wonderful doctor and I’m truly grateful for everything she has done for me. Thank you once again for everything.
