"Thank you to the team and a wonderful nurse"

I recently had occasion to attend Altnagelvin Hospital - the Day Case Unit for facial surgery under care of Mr Zygan.

I wish to commend all the staff on every aspect of my experience. From the surgeon Mr Zygan to the nurse who brought me my post op tea and toast I can only say a huge thank you. (I must add it’s the best tea and toast one can ever enjoy - better than any 4* hotel).

Everything moved so smoothly - it was a busy unit, constant coming and going of patients from theatre to recovery - and yet when I commented on this, I was told it was one of their quiet mornings.

There is one nurse however, I wish to give mention to who was my ‘angel in comfortable shoes’ (my description for a nurse). From the moment I met Lauren in the waiting room as she took me through to admit me - until 7 hours later when she walked me back out to hand me over to the care of my husband I can only give thanks and praise for her. She was warm and friendly, yet clear and professional as she explained the procedure of things for my stay. She put me at ease and reassured me through what was an understandably anxious time.

She was just wonderful. Her love for her job reflected on her face and in her body language. She told me, when I asked, that she has only been nursing for 3 years (if I remember correctly). She was the perfect nurse anyone would wish to have caring and tending to them. I want to take this opportunity to wish Lauren every success in her future career.

I feel, in fact I know and witnessed this as her calling. She is a natural born caring person and I trust she never loses her love for her job.
