I recently attended Day Surgery at the RAH, I have autism and tend to get quite distressed in hospital. My named nurse, Susan, was amazing and the theatre team were unreal, in particular Fergal the anaesthetist. I was quite upset and he was so calming, patient and reassuring with me .. my line blew when I was being put to sleep and all I can remember is Fergal talking to me and keeping me calm whilst he got new access. I was looked after by Jan in recovery and I was quite distressed, she was understanding of this and extremely patient with me as I was not the easiest to deal with (as were all the other nurses who were there at the time). For someone who finds hospitals extremely traumatic, once again DSU went above and beyond and made me feel like a human being and not an inconvenience. They are an amazing team, everyone from Dr's and nurses down the reception staff and I am so lucky to be looked after by them. Thank You!
