I was recently referred to NHS Lothian for an ADHD assessment. After spending some time completing the appropriate forms with my GP it was clear that I likely do have ADHD. Something which I've probably been aware of for at least the last 10 years but have put off dealing with until it has become increasing destructive to my work and life.
My GP sent off my assessment with a letter explaining how they believed I would meet the criteria for an assessment and I have since received a letter back stating that as I am not able (as I am in my 30s!) to provide evidence of my primary/secondary school history with ADHD then I do not meet the criteria for an assessment.
I have looked into getting an assessment privately but cannot afford to spend upwards of £1500 for something that the NHS should be will be carry out.
"Adult ADHD referral refused"
