"Unnecessary interventions"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I had my child a few months ago via VBAC at DGRI. Unfortunately due to multiple failings by the midwives my labour was prolonged and unnecessary intervention took place.

I was treated as if I had no idea what I was talking about and made to feel unsafe and vulnerable. I found the staff in delivery cliquey and as if they knew best. My birth notes also have discrepancies. One midwife in particular made a rude comment about something on my child but failed to see something else that could’ve been catastrophic had I not had it noted before leaving hospital.

My birth experience was dampened by these individuals and it has gave me lasting trauma.

Hi @Annabanana951

May I start with an apology to you for your negative experience in the service at what should be the most special of moments. This is not the level of care we would want to provide and certainly not the lasting memory of our service. I would be grateful if you felt able to contact myself via dg.patientservices@nhs.scot email address to try and further understand and investigate the points you have raised.

I hope that you and your little one are doing well and want to thank you for reaching out with your feedback and sharing your experience.

Best wishes
