"Excellent Care in the Emergency department"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Accident and emergency North Devon District Hospital / Urology

(as a service user),

I was seen twice in the Emergency Department at North Devon district hospital just before Christmas. Both times I received exceptional care and felt safe and listened to.

Initially I was referred in after not improving on antibiotics for a presumed urine infection. I was referred by the out of hours service and was seen promptly by Barry in triage who was very reassuring and professional. I'm struggling to remember all the wonderful staff who looked after me on that occasion and I'm so sorry I can't remember all your names. (Possibly Lena and Dionne?)

I was then seen by Dr Issit and Dr Hands who kindly allowed me to go home with follow up but strict instructions to come back if things got worse.

Things did get worse and I came back and was pretty sick and in pain. Danny, Jojo and Jordan as well as Rick the surgeon all looked after me and were so reassuring and thoughtful when I was really scared and hurting. I would happily let any member of my family be looked after by the ED team. They were professional, caring and really thorough as were the Doctors and Surgeons I saw.

I can't thank you enough for your time and compassion.
