"Great care at an exceptionally busy time"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Acute assessment unit Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

Brought in via a wonderful SAS crew to ED at the weekend. Unfortunately had a lengthy, uncomfortable lie in a trolley for around 20 hours. However, there were many sitting in seats in corridors, so I really couldn't really complain. Staff were mindful that I was C19 positive and ensured PPE was being used and procedures followed.

Finally moved to AAU 1 where every member of staff was wonderful. They all showed kindness, empathy and a genuine willing to help. Particular mention to locum Consultant Dr Blackhurst who was the kindest and most empathetic medic I have come across. He really listened, tried to help and cast no judgement.

It was a bit hard having to move to another ward as I felt really at ease with this medic, just as we had made a treatment plan. I wish we could poach him to Psychiatry!

Well done to all the staff who worked over that extremely busy weekend, and managed with a smile on their faces, nothing was a bit of bother for them.

A very positive experience of SAS/ED & AAU.

Dear Saba23

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your Feedback here on CareOpnion.

I'm sorry to read you had to make use of our services as well as those of the Wider NHS. I do hope you are feeling a lot better.

I am so pleased to you describe our attending crew as 'wonderful' and I would be thrilled to pass on your kind words if you would like? If so, please may I ask you email our team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, address and date of call out and I will arrange this for you.

I am very sorry to read of the experience you mention in your post about the wait at the hospital. I am sure our colleagues at NHS Forth Valley will reply and make contact with you soon in relation to this.

From all of us here at The Scottish Ambulance Service, we wish you all the very best and a Happy and Healthy new year

Kind Regards

Lesley
