"I was taken away by the kind & thoughtfulness given to my son"

About: Borders General Hospital / Accident & Emergency Borders General Hospital / Paediatrics (Ward 15) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a parent/guardian),

On the early hours of his birthday my teenage son had what we think was his second epileptic seizure.

From the ambulance arriving and taking fantastic care, though A&E and being admitted to ward 15 I lost count on the amount of people who wished him a happy birthday!

In ward 15 they made a big deal of him and his birthday which was lovely, but what amazed me the most was, when my son was sound asleep the advanced paeds nurse practitioner snuck into the room delivering a present for him to wake up too! I was taken away by the kind and thoughtfulness given to my son at what was a frightening time.

All nurses nightshift and day shift were fantastic in saying happy birthday, getting him discharged as early as possible so he could get home to celebrate his birthday!

Thank you so much to all staff we seen last night from ambulance all the way to ward 15! Not the birthday we hoped for but an experience where the kindness of staff will be remembered!

Dear Happymun

Thank you for taking the time to post your Feedback here on Carepopinion

I am really sorry to read your son had to make use of our services as well as those of the wider NHS, and especially on his birthday too.

However, I am delighted read the experience and care given was all positive and I'm sure your son enjoyed his birthday wishes along the way!

If you would like me to pass on your thanks to our crew, I can certainly arrange that for you. All I would need is for your son's name, address and date of when we attended. If you would like me to do this, please may I ask you contact our team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot and if you could be so kind to make reference to your care opinion username, this will help us easily link to your story.

I wish you and your son all the very best and I hope he is recovering well

Lesley
