"Excellent care"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Accident & Emergency Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Acute Receiving Unit (Ward 2c) Scottish Ambulance Service

(as a parent/guardian),

Our 4 day old baby girl became unwell on Christmas Eve and was taken to the Royal Hospital for children by ambulance. The ambulance crew were great, both very friendly and explained to us why we needed to be taken to the hospital.

We were then seen quickly by the A&E staff who were all brilliant and transferred quickly to the CDU ward for further investigation. The care we were provided there was excellent. We wanted to give a special thank you to staff nurse Charlotte as we feel she went above and beyond to support not just our baby girl but myself and my husband who were finding the situation extremely distressing. Charlotte treated us with genuine kindness and compassion when we needed it the most. It is clear she is very passionate about her work.

Once all the investigations were completed in the CDU we were transferred through to ward 2C. Again every single member or staff we dealt with were brilliant. All very kind, caring and approachable. They were all fantastic when dealing with our newborn and made sure we were all comfortable.

We really can’t fault any of the care provided and we are extremely grateful for all of those involved as our girl is now on the mend. Thank you all again.

Dear GH1991

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback. I am really sorry to read about your baby girl being unwell and can appreciate how worrying this must have been for you.

I am delighted to read that you mention our staff were friendly and explained everything so well to you.

If you would like me to pass on your kind words to our crew, I can certainly arrange that for you. All I would need is for your wee girl's name, address and date of when we attended. If you would like me to do this, please may I ask you contact our team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot and if you could be so kind to make reference to your care opinion username, this will help us easily link to your story.

I hope your wee girl is feeling better and wish you both the very best

Kind Regards

Lesley

Dear GH1991

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback on Care Opinion.

I was sorry to hear your baby girl had to attend the Royal Hospital for Children after becoming unwell. I can only begin to imagine how worried you and your family must have been so to hear you felt fully supported by our staff was very heart warming.

I was also pleased to hear she was triaged quickly and a full investigation was undertaken to find out what was wrong. This must have been a huge relief to you.

I will be happy to pass on your thanks to the team who I'm sure will be touched to hear you and your daughter had such a pleasant experience while under their care.

I hope your daughter is feeling a lot better and recovering well back at home.

Kind regards

Kevin
