I recently went to the RAH Paisley after bleeding heavily with 3 days to go. Was kept in for observation and put onto maternity ward.
My midwife kept telling me all day that I wasn’t in labour and would be going home next day. I told the midwife numerous times I was having contractions and they said I wasn’t in labour, refused me any painkillers except paracetamol. I complained again about the pain, and again was refused any medication and was never checked.
Went into a bath and my waters burst, my partner told the midwife this and they rolled their eyes and said I haven’t but if I think I've burst I need to get out the bath. I got out in massive amounts of pain and was shift change.
My new midwife was amazing, checked me and realised I was 10cm dilated and rushed me (running) to labour ward. Baby born 20 mins later.
I was sent to this hospital as I needed to be antibiotic 4 hours prior to birth to protect my baby as I had strep b. Had no antibiotic or painkillers due to what I feel was my original midwife's incompetence. Might I add this midwife was on shift the 2 days I stayed and didn’t come back near me because I believe they knew they had done wrong.
