"Scottish ambulance and NHS saved my father-in-law"

About: Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Cardiac Surgery Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

I am writing this on behalf of my father-in-law. He is in his 80s, and I think his words say it all. Thank you to all, but especially the Balfron crew who were out so fast

"I recently had a very bad heart attack while lying in my bed. An ambulance was phoned and arrived within 15 mins or so. The paramedics worked on me outside the house inside the ambulance to stabilise me.

Once stabilised, off to the Golden Jubilee Hospital blue light flashing. At the hospital I was examined and it was decided to fit a Stent to the left artery and the procedure was carried out.

As the heart has been damaged it took some time to get my blood pressure stabilised by changing the medication and trying different drugs. I am back home feeling pretty good although weak. Just building it up daily. I have nothing but praise for our NHS and the treatment received."

Dear Waxemundo,

Thank you very much for kindly posting your father-in-law’s story. What a terrifying time for your father-in-law and the family. I am so pleased to hear he is home, recovering and getting stronger daily. Please pass on my well wishes to him and thank him for his kind words. I will be sure to pass them on to the Cardiology team.

Kind regards

Paula
