Recently I have needed to spend several days as an inpatient on wards in separate disciplines.
The practise now seems to be that urine bottles are placed on the bedside table, the same table that food is placed for patients and other edible material is often left. Indeed bottles are left on the tables when food is served. I have had to ask for their removal before eating a meal.
I can appreciate the problem and can see the difficulties but the practice is unhygienic to say the least. Perhaps if it were made a matter of urgency that they be removed before food is served?
