"The best midwives ever!"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Obstetrics (Maternity care)

(as a service user),

I had my baby in August of this year and was totally blown away by my midwife Kay.

It’s taken me a while to write any feedback with having our beautiful baby boy, but I have thought about Kay most days since she delivered him. Kay has all the compassion of a saint and instantly put me at ease in a stressful and emotional time. Her ability to read the room and speak to myself and my husband on our level and with the perfect balance of information and humour keeping us totally in the loop. We knew every step of the plan right at the beginning and knew Kay had our best interests at the forefront of her mind.

I really hope that she knows how much she meant to me, my husband, and our little boy. I know that everyone she looks after will feel so safe.

If (when) we have another baby, I would be totally honoured to have Kay looking after us again. She is everything I needed in my midwife.

I would also like to mention a few others who made the whole experience far easier as first time parents. There was a support nurse who helped me to the shower after the delivery called Nicola who had a similar ability to put me at ease even though I had just had a baby and felt ‘not at my best’. Thank you Nicola for being so kind and making me giggle.

During the labour, there was also a senior midwife in navy blue who came into the room every so often. Unfortunately I can’t remember her name, I’m really sorry, but she had a wealth of knowledge and kept me and my husband up to date with how our baby’s heartbeat was doing and letting us know if it changed etc. another credit to the team on the delivery ward.

Thank you to everyone!! Such a wonderful team!!

Hello BabyMum123

Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your positive labour and birth experience.

Kay will be absolutely delighted to read how important she made you feel during your labour and how calm and supported you felt. Thank you for sharing this.

I will also ensure Nicola is aware the impact she made after the birth of your baby.

I will ensure this feedback is shared with staff.

I hope you are well and enjoying your baby boy.

Take care

Fiona
