"Haytor ward"

About: Haytor Unit

(as the patient),

When I was there a young lady was on the floor no blanket covering her, her nappy was showing and I a patient had to ask for a blanket 2 hours later for her.

They stripped a girl in the seclusion area naked, down to her underwear or nothing on, no blanket to cover her modesty no dignity was shown and I had to give her 1-1 counselling when she came out of that room and sit with her and tell her to contact PALS and get her parents to come in. She was soon discharged.

I also witnessed staff members shutting doors in patents faces and ignoring them when they have had a meltdown.

Staff let people self harm on the unit, for example I was in a very bad headspace and they left me bleed all over my vest, also left my shoelaces around my neck.

Communication is rubbish and one staff says one thing and then another says another thing

I've been mocked and other patients have been laughed at. My parents reported stuff like this to the staff.

I've had to, and other patients, had to wait up to 9 hours for medication to go on home leave that was approved by the consultant too. I am traumatised from my stay there. Shut me in a room crying while I was distressed.

Men in their nappies pulling trousers down and stood in art room while in a pee filled nappy.

Staff said they would be bitchy to me because I was upset my medication was late.

Staff attitude

Staff attitude

I had been forced to take medication or threated to be sectioned.

Elderly men walking around pee filled nappies until staff finally did something, shouting at dementia patients who shouldn't of been there.

Sitting in the staff room on their phones, eating while patients screamed and was asking for help. Slamming doors in faces. Even sat on the bench listening to music.

I'm so traumatised. I should of been helped yet I was left to hurt myself, same with other patients, and told I'm not aloud to cry because it'll show I'm unstable.

People also had to wait ages for pain relief when needed.

Cleanliness

Cleanliness

Bathrooms only cleaned once a day when other wards its every other hour. Blood, period stuff in the bins and nappies on the radiators.

No where to put clean clothes after a shower.

No soap in female bathrooms for 2 months while I was there.

Food

Food

Hardly any vegan options.

Activities hardly gone on. OTs always busy - but having cups of tea and biscuits.

Daily living support

Daily living support

I had to attened to bed bound patients as a patient myself and run back and forth and tell the staff what they needed as they are very poorly and screamed all day, staff did nothing to intervene.

I got made to feel fat for asking for food, as someone who's anorexic. I've had to stop my friend falling as she was having a seizure, banging her head a staff member told me to go check on her when they could of done it themselves.

I had to remove self harm equipment from them

I've had to calm people down, I got put on a 72 hour hold for no reason. Patients aren't aloud out hardly.

An elderly man made sexual remarks against me that staff didn't take seriously.
