"I am truly on a much more positive path I believe"

I have been addicted to oxycodone and Heroin for several years and codeine since early childhood. I was sexually assaulted at a young age and have dealt with isolation, borderline personality disorder and other such conditions that made my life a living hell. After spending my entire adult life a substance addict and before that an unknowing codeine addict, I finally seemed out help after several overdoses and ever dimming prospects of a future. 

I joined Telford STARS and initially I wasn't able to receive medication and only had talking therapy which did not help so much. Eventually, after I made it clear I would need more help than what I was receiving I was taken seriously and put onto the methadone substitution therapy system.

It has been absolutely life changing, I have had struggles throughout and adjusting but never any which were anywhere near as bad as the struggles I faced without this support. My first key worker was wonderful and my current one is absolutely amazing! I have had a long time clean and, though I have my slip ups, I am truly on a much more positive path I believe.
