Firstly, I should begin with the fact I’ve had too many horrible experiences with the NHS. Nurses, doctors, some of them you wouldn’t believe due to how awful they are. However my time at Stracathro was incredible.
The nurses were so kind to me, they made me laugh and they made me feel at ease. I wish I could remember all of their names - including the anaesthetists and my surgeon, they were amazing. I felt like I had a community of carers that day, even the cleaner stopped for a chat about Christmas dinner and all the trimmings, she was part of that experience for me.
I’ve had some horrible experiences which definitely put me off hospitals, nurses and the NHS in general, but this experience has given me a lot of hope. I had surgery in 2021 as well, an awful experience (the hospital stay) however the surgeon himself was wonderful as was my surgeon this time.
I cannot fault a thing: I was so well cared for, I was respected, I wasn’t worried, I just truly hope the nurses see this and know how much I appreciate their incredible attitudes to their job.
I won’t forget that experience ever, massive thank you to the surgeon, the recovery team, the anaesthetists, the nurses, the cleaner, you’re all absolutely amazing. Xxx
