"They made a real difference to my wife's condition"

About: Hospital at Home / Hospital at Home Team Falkirk

(as a carer),

My wife took a decline with her health, so I contacted out of hours and was told that my wife's illness had gotten worse and there was nothing they could do, it was a phone call to the family to expect the worst. Even a hospice was suggested to supply oxygen.

Hospital at Home came in and immediately assessed my wife and assured me that they would do everything they could to try reverse what was going on. They made sure she had oxygen and supplied intravenous antibiotics to try act quickly as my wife has suffered several infections during the duration of her palliative care. This helped tremendously and made a real difference to my wife's condition. They drew bloods and it was found to be pneumonia, which has been treated by continuous intravenous by hospital at home.

My family and will be forever grateful for the intervention of Hospital at Home for ensuring my wife's wishes to stay at home and ensure they would stabilise her condition and give her the best fighting chance, which they definitely have done.

This is the second time my wife has been under the care of this service and both times have been absolutely outstanding and myself and my family can only express extreme gratitude for this service as my wife would not be here right now if they hadn't been here, when every other healthcare professional had given up.

Dear CharlesT336

Thank you so much for your review of the care your wife received from the Hospital at Home team. We were very pleased to be able to keep your wife at home while she recovered from the infection and pneumonia, and our staff were delighted when we got this under control, and were able to keep your wife at home where she wanted to be.

We wish you and your family all the best.
