"Some really good staff"

About: The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

I was kept in over a week and had some really good staff I wanted to highlight.

The nurse who took my blood and put my cannula in when I have a phobia and helped me when I was nonverbal.

And the other member of staff who I couldn't see their name badge and fought every single meal time to make sure I was given coeliac safe food and when there wasn't anything for me they would get me a snack.

The other member of staff who saw me having a meltdown because of noise and they stayed with me and talked and got me painkillers whilst I was calming down.

And the staff nurse who repeated everything everyone said to me cause they couldn't be bothered to do it nicely or even explain it in a way I'd understand so they'd repeat it all so I could.

The night staff on my last night who explained what bedsores were and was really helpful over night and calmed me down.

Dear Dani1207

Thank you so much for finding the time to give us feedback following what sounds a stressful time for you.

I will be sure to share this on to the staff who have helped with communication, ensured you had the correct dietary requirements, helped you with you phobia and explained about bedsores.

It is unfortunate you felt others did not spend time with explanations.

Overall the staff will be pleased!

Kind regards,

Nikki Harvey

Interim Lead Nurse Gynaecology/ACS
