I phoned the GP surgery at 8am. I was 2nd in the queue and within a minute spoke with a pleasant Receptionist who asked me a few questions about my 11 year old daughter. I explained my child had been feeling unwell for 6 days and had been coughing intermittently, had a raised temperature and felt her chest was tight. The Receptionist told me an ANP would call me back that morning.
The ANP (Gladys) called me and asked some more questions about the symptoms, duration of the symptoms and offered an appointment to bring my daughter in at 10am.
During the consultation Glady's history taking and clinical exam was excellent and thorough, she took time to listen and explained to my child every thing she was doing and why she was doing it. This was my daughters first visit to a GP Surgery, she can be anxious, diagnosed with autism and I felt Gladys was the right person for my child to meet in a GP surgery.
I have had previous experience with Shonagh (one of the other ANPs) she has been equally excellent in delivering consultations. She is kind and patient and very good at her job.
Abbey Health Centre and the people of Arbroath are very lucky to professional, empathetic and hardworking nursing clinicians.
