"Supportive, effective and genuine"

About: HMP Stocken

(as a service user),

I have been to fourteen prison establishments and most of my offences were related to substance misuse so working with drug intervention teams has always been part of my sentence plans.

I have worked with many different case workers and three different intervention teams which were Turning Point, Phoenix Futures and most recently Inclusion. Throughout these times and engagements I have found that they all have something to offer especially when ones desire to rehabilitate and change is sincere. However for me Inclusion and my caseworker Alex have by far been the most supportive throughout a tough and challenging time. What I like about inclusions methods is that they listen attentively without placing judgement and then follow up these engagements with sound and realistic advice. This strategy then allows me to reflect on myself, my work books and my one to one sessions with great understanding.

When you understand yourself and drug use with Inclusion alongside other interventions everything pieces together like a jigsaw.

As I said the want to change is paramount in order to acieve recovery although everyone is on a different path and I have been struggling with addiction for almost a decade but in such a short period of time inclusion and my case worker have given me all of the information and tools I required in order to make such an effective change which I can confidently say will continue to benefit me for the rest of my life and the real test will be once I am released back into the community.

I now look at life in such a positive manner and realise that life has endless opportunities and that we as individuals must cherish this fact and remember although addiction affects everyone around us and we owe it to them to change it is ultimately about you.

Thanks Inclusion and my case worker Alex for being supportive, effective and genuine.
