"Post trauma care"

About: Community health and Care Services / Reablement Team Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Critical Care Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / West of Scotland Major Trauma Ward (ward 1c)

(as a service user),

I fell from ladders whilst cleaning my gutters. I was in the Queen Elizabeth critical care unit and then the major trauma ward for 24days. I have a broken sternum, collar bone, 4 injured vertebrae, broken ribs and head injury. I have been discharged home with a brace to help my injuries heal and a new catheter.

My main issues when home is pain and learning how to use my catheter. I also have been feeling dizzy as my blood pressure has been low. This is the first time I have had any care at home and I have been very impressed with the service given by the intermediate care team. They implemented all the care I needed and helped me settle back home. They also gave me good advice.

Dear craterdj75

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback on Care Opinion.

I was sorry to hear you had to be admitted to hospital after experiencing a fall at your home. I can only begin to imagine how much pain you must have been in and how worried you would have been prior to your admission to the ward.

I was however extremely happy to hear the care and treatment you have received since has been to a high standard and you have felt well cared for throughout your journey.

I have passed on your thanks to the team in both departments who have asked me to thank you for your kind words. It really means a lot to the staff.

I hope your feeling a lot better and continue to receive good care and advice from our care at home team.

Kind regards

Kevin
