"Being able to self-refer is a god-send"

About: Tayside Community Services / Nail Surgery Service

(as the patient),

I had an appointment today to have my big toenail removed due to persistent pain and infections.

Firstly, I was very impressed by how quick and easy this entire process has been. Being able to self-refer is a god-send and saves the hassle of trying to go through the GP. I had the initial consultation within a week, and treatment within a month- I had been expecting to be told there would be a very long waiting list, so I'm very happy I was dealt with within such a short time.

The staff within this service have all been fantastic. The consultation was great, very informative and potential risks and complications (while unlikely) were fully explained.

The procedure itself went very well. Again, the staff were fantastic- very friendly and put me at ease, and I felt they handled the procedure very professionally. Aftercare was discussed in very clear terms that was easy to understand, and I was given some dressings along with written instructions to take home.

Overall, I have been very happy with the experience, such great service, thank you!

Thank you so much for taking the time to give such detailed feedback on our nail surgery service. We strive to make sure patients are seen quickly, especially when they are in pain and have infection. I am glad that you appreciated this and found the whole experience from referral to treatment to be a positive one. I shall be sure to pass on your comments to all staff. I wish you well for a speedy recovery.
