"Caused me more harm than good"

About: Ealing IAPT

(as a service user),

I had a horrific experience with the IAPT provider. Caused me more harm than good! I started a 12 week therapy for severe PTSD.

I did all the talking with no feedback. What concerned me the most, was the lack of direction and structure. I was trying to open up about a severe trauma with no closure in place. My health was deteriorating and my symptoms were becoming unbearable.

On week 9, I received an email from the service saying my therapist no longer works for them.

A few weeks later a member of their senior clinical team guaranteed me a new full course ( 12 weeks ) of proper professional therapy with a new therapist starting from scratch.

The problem was, the new therapist didn't have any history on my condition, hence we wasted yet another few weeks catching up and I had relived the trauma for a 2nd time updating the new therapist.

The therapist was very good , but they only had a limited amount of time to try and fix the damage from the previous therapist. By the time we started dealing with the core of the trauma, my therapy was cut short at week 10. At this stage I'd had enough of this service, my condition was becoming concerningly worse.

This services communication was appalling with multiple important emails ignored. 1 letter had to be sent back to have the grammar corrections 3 times. All their letters diagnosed you with Anxiety or Depression.

This service standardize all mental health illnesses as either Anxiety or Depression (according to their letters). I suffer from PTSD which is categorised as Trauma and stressor-related disorder. It's not depression or anxiety. But according to their letters I'm suffering from anxiety and depression or I'm being treated for anxiety/ Depression. Rather concerning diagnosis.

I hold this service responsible for taking me through my trauma twice and cutting my needed therapy short.

Mental health is a very serious illness, unfortunately this company is out of their skill set, lack professionalism and empathy.

I am preparing a formal complaint to IAPT for referring me endangering my condition.
