"My husband is having frequent nose bleeds"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Ear, Nose & Throat (Ward 11b) Vale of Leven General Hospital / Ear, Nose & Throat

(as a relative),

My husband has been having regular nose bleeds, he has previously been admitted to Monklands as he was working out there. But more recently we attended in October to MAU at Vale of Leven and was then transferred to QEUH. As when packed he suffers a vasovagal episode, he was seen and told he needs a referral to ENT.

He suffered another two nose bleeds the next consecutive days and then again the third day, where we again attended MAU at Vale of Leven and we told it was unsafe to go there for them.

He suffered a further bleed the next day whilst working and had to cancel his job and headed to Crosshouse but on arrival it stopped and called the GP, who said he would re-refer to ENT as urgent.

This is now affecting his work and our income and he is becoming scared to go anywhere and we would be grateful if you could let us know if the urgent referral has been submitted and what the waiting time will be. He is currently taking iron and folic acid due to the loss of blood.

Dear Kelly0975

I am sorry to hear that your husband is having frequent nosebleeds and for the impact this is having on his quality of life. As Care Opinion is anonymous, I am unable to confirm if we have received your husband’s referral. However, if you contact our Referral Management Centre on 0800 592087 they will be able to confirm if we have received the referral and provide an update. The phone lines can be busy, so you might want to email them @ Appointmentsbookingcentre@ggc.scot.nhs.uk If emailing it’s helpful if you can include your husband’s name, and CHI number (if known) or his date of birth.

Thank you

Nicole
