I had an amazing experience with my doctor and nurse, the first time I actually felt heard. I have been suffering from a weak bladder, stress incontinence and urge incontinence for over 15 years. Every time I went to my GP they just kept referring me to physio.
This year was the second time being referred to gynaecology, the first to Queen Elizabeth Govan, who again gave me physio, and second to the New Victoria Hospital. Sometimes just somebody listening, hearing you, and taking you seriously in every aspect and how much your life is affected by these issues is what is needed.
I dealt with Dr Revicky and LesleyAnn in clinic K. They spoke about different options and even scanned me, which I never had in 15 years. I felt as if finally someone is doing something to help me, they actually care about me. As a carer I always put myself last and give up easily as long as those I care for are taken care of and happy so this was a really big deal for me.
I was so nervous and anxious for the appointment, I was dreading going as again I thought they would pap me off to physio. Towards the end of the appointment I was in tears from the compassion and the fact that they were actually going to help me and had taken what I said seriously.
My treatment is ongoing and I am still exploring different options but honestly I can’t thank the staff at new Victoria Hospital - Dr Revicky and LesleyAnn at clinic k - enough . You have given me hope again.
