My father was admitted to hospital by paramedics having suffered from a seizure at home. On the day of his discharge, which was the morning after he was admitted we were approached by his named nurse, who told us he could go home now and he would receive an epilepsy clinic appointment on the post. These were the very, and only words they had said to us since arriving that day to visit my father.
I have worked in the NHS for almost 30 years and have never experienced any colleagues displaying a lack of sensitivity or care such as this. I found it was cold, with no compassion and concern. I then went to ask them if we needed to wait for any medications or anything else and they replied without looking at me or turning their head away from her computer. Again this was answered with the word no.
I felt very sad for the nursing profession to have someone like this representing them.
