I attended Urogynaecology Mesh Clinic at New Victoria Hospital in Glasgow early November.
The day started with a two hour journey, which usually takes about an hour to get there, which was extremely stressful due to distance from home. Car park was full but eventually managed to find a disabled space. There was no signage in the underground car park directing to the area for the lifts. As I was maneuvering a wheel chair around cars, again this caused stress. I was slightly late for my appointment.
However, the staff were wonderful. Very friendly and professional. Put me at ease immediately. A nurse I'd previously spoken with on a telephone appointment sought me out to ensure I'd found the hospital okay and managed to park. She had been concerned for me. On my weight and height being taken, I felt a handrail beside the equipment would have been very beneficial.
My consultation with Dr Guerrero, Dr Wright and Nurse Claire was extremely informative, professional and I was put at ease with discussing a very personal subject. I was given detailed explanations and all my questions were answered. I also had the opportunity to see a pelvic floor physiotherapist and an anaesthetist, in the event of future surgery. The hospital was bright, clean and modern, with excellent staff.
Overall a very positive experience that would have been very much more appreciated if held in my local NHS area in Fife.
"Staff was extremely informative and professional"
