"The showed great empathy"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I had day surgery procedure for an Orthopaedic procedure. I was worked up about the procedure & the thought of being knocked out.  I cannot thank my care nurse enough for her approach with me whilst preparing me to go to surgery.  She was a total godsend, calming, lovely woman in all regards to her duty off care. I hope she sees this & knows how her manner in dealing with patients is deeply appreciated.

From then on in everyone else could not be more caring & shown great empathy towards me especially the anaesthetist for his calm demeanour in explaining how I put it the knock out procedure.  Although my surgery was unsuccessful, it was a decision I had to take for my mobility knowing beforehand it could fail.  I suppose if the NHS was not under the burden it is my procedure would have been done months earlier & the outcome may have been different but we will never know & I'm not going to dwell on that.  Once again thank you Wishaw Hospital

Dear octoberwe36,

Thank you for sharing your recent experience in University Hospital Wishaw, Day Surgery.

It can be a worrying time attending hospital for a procedure and I can absolutely understand why you would be worked up about it and the anaesthesia for it. I am so pleased to hear that your care nurse was so reassuring and calming. I am sure this must have made you feel more at ease. I am so glad to hear that the rest of the team were also very caring and empathetic. It sounds like this wonderful, friendly team have helped to make this as positive an experience as possible for you.

I will be sure to pass on your kind words and positive feedback to the whole team and I am sure this will give them a real boost. It is great encouragement for staff to be recognised.

I hope you are recovering well.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
