I’ve always had a bit of social anxiety following experiences of bullying as a child, this became worse and severely debilitating after COVID hit, I found lockdown kept me in the house and this became my safe space. I then experienced severe anxiety when travelling or going anywhere new which made me physically unwell, this ruined a number of holidays and family trips.
My daughter then developed OCD anxiety symptoms after I had covid and I felt this was my fault and she learned her anxiety from me. I felt guilty and a failure as a parent. I blamed myself for her distress.
I asked for help from GP and was referred to Pyschological services, my daughter was referred to CAMHS.
The initial assessment and phone appointments were good, but there were long waiting times and I feel there was a failure to recognise previous work done. There was also no opportunity for talking therapy.
