"Excellent response"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Elective Overnight Stay Centre/Gynaecology Ward Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I had been feeling unwell for a couple of days with cold like symptoms, then I took an excruciating headache and a sensitivity to light.

When I came in from work I decided to take myself to A&E in Daisy Hill Hospital. I was triaged and seen by a doctor very quickly. I was given a CT scan as meningitis was suspected, the doctors were unsure if it was bacterial or viral meningitis so I was given a side room in A&E where I stayed for two days before being admitted to Female Surgical. I had a MRI scan done and I was informed I had viral meningitis.

I was given a room of my own in Female Surgical, this was great as I could get some sleep as I was exhausted. I have nothing but praise for the nursing staff on this ward, especially HCA’s Jenny and Margaret. The only negative is I did not have a TV in my room, but this was only minor in relation to how sick I was feeling all week. Thank you very much to all the staff in Female Surgical Daisy Hill Hospital.
