My mum is a 86 year old who still lives at home on her own. Mum didn’t have anything to go to so she relied very much on myself & my sister to take her out each day. Over the past few years it has been very difficult especially when Covid hit and she was very much alone especially when we were not allowed to visit or socialise with people anywhere. We found it very hard to plan things to do with mum as she has got slow on her feet and gets tired very quickly. Getting mum into Donard day care has made such a change in her she has a reason to get up out of bed on the days she goes. The people she has met both staff and people who attend the centre has really given her a new lease of life. Mum enjoyed art and she loves the activities they do each day. I have seen a good change in her mood her drive to get up and go.
This has given us as a family peace of mind she is out meeting people doing different activities and really enjoying herself not forgetting lunch each day. This has given me sometime to myself as well and I am not stressing that she is sitting down in her own house alone making me feel I need to get down to make sure she is okay.
A massive thank you to all the staff who diligently work alongside the elderly ensuring they are looked after and cared for. Knowing mum is at the day centre I know she is well cared for.
"A massive thank you to all the staff"
