I had my mum to an appointment where she was being investigated. She was seen in ward 101 where we cannot fault the care. She was seen in a timely manner and everything was explained where we could understand what was happening. But when we returned in the afternoon for a scan, we were asked to report to the outpatient radiology department. My mum was taken through for her ultrasound scan. Thankfully everything is well. But while there, one staff member in the department wasn't happy that it had been requested that both my mums legs be scanned, as it isn't usual protocol. My mum felt very awkward and uncomfortable, as if she has put them out. I understand it isn't normal protocol and this can be relayed to the patient, but it isn't very professional to make a patient feel uncomfortable. She cannot fault the scanner or HCSW though.
