"Wait for audiology review and repeat audiogram"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Audiology

(as the patient),

Unacceptable waiting time. Poorly resourced.

Told 5 months wait. Then told 10 months wait 

No appointment or contact after 1 year.

All my working life in NHS - extremely disappointing it has come to this.

Thank you for getting in touch. I am sorry to read about how long you have been waiting for your appointment. We understand the anxiety and distress that long waits cause our patients and we apologise for this. Unfortunately there is a nation-wide shortage of trained Audiologists and the department is working hard to recruit to the gaps across our service. Please be assured that the department are constantly reviewing the service to try to minimise the waiting times for all patients, running additional clinics where possible and ensuring patients are dated in order of clinical priority and longest waiting. We would also encourage patients who are concerned about a change in their clinical condition to contact their GP’s who can provide the team with additional information where appropriate.
