"Fort Knox GP since covid"

About: Hywel Dda Health Board (carmarthenshire Office)

(as a service user),

Since Covid my surgery has moved to askmyGP and it now feels like the once welcoming and busy practice has become like Fort Knox. You either request an appointment that day because it is ‘urgent’ (no definition of that but if it is really urgent please go to A&E just what they need huh?) or you simply can’t make an appointment. I have waited 4 to 5 weeks to hear from a doctor. I hate going to the doctors so I put off contacting them anyway, but now it feels like you are actively discouraged from seeking help.

If you go in the place has may be one or at most two patients waiting, I’ve heard patients go to the desk and be told to go home and ask via AskmyGP, and when you ring up or go in 9 times out of 10 I have found the staff are unfriendly and you definitely feel unwelcome. What has happened? I don’t know if they are low on GPS or what, but this system does not seem the most efficient way of running things. And it must certainly be brewing more health problems than it solves by making patients feel they have to be at death’s door before they should get in touch with a GP. Just baffles and upsets me.
