"Poor miscarriage care"

About: Maternity care (Ward 31) / Early Pregnancy Assessment Service

(as a service user),

I found the early pregnancy unit lacked compassion when I experienced an anembryonic pregnancy, as it’s not my first I feel I have some comparison. I felt like the midwife was dismissive and kept telling me that I could have my dates wrong when I knew that was not possible, they were abrupt and not very sympathetic.

I had a medical vacuum and was given the wrong time for my appointment which meant the medication kicked in while I was in the waiting area and I passed the pregnancy in the public toilet. I did make a formal complaint as there was more issues but was told the staff are highly trained and they were sorry I’d felt my care wasn’t good.

I should very much expect any medical staff to be highly trained, unfortunately it seems this doesn’t make them good at every part of their job.

I’m pregnant again but intend to avoid the EPU at Paisley as I genuinely feel anxious about returning.
