"Mental and physical health"

About: Richmond Medical Centre

(as the patient),

I had been working for a company for many years in a job that is mentally but not physically taxing. As we came to the end of the contract and my termination date I couldn’t see what was happening to me mentally, emotionally and physically.

There were relationship problems left right and centre, my work suffered and it got to the point where I could be driving and wonder how simple it would be to drive into that tree, or the lorry, or find another way to end the torment.

Fortunately I reached out to my doctors and they were incredibly supportive, they understood why I can do my job but want to end it all at the same time with little or no trigger.

It was the understanding and provision of a pathway to a better me that was most important. It wasn’t just pop these pills and it will get better, it was the understanding on both of our parts that we wanted to make a better me.

Long story short, I’m now unemployed but on a pathway to recovery and feel like losing my job was the best thing for me, I no longer feel like the extra in a James Bond movie that you just know isn’t going to make it, or the guy in the red top on the Star Trek away team.
