"Coping strategies for work"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Community Services / Mental Health Occupation Therapy

(as a service user),

I connected with Karen from our first session and she helped me identify early warning signs at work so I can manage these using the wellness recovery action plan so I had a ‘go to’ tool to help me before my mind starts to escalate and help me cope better.

Karen highlighted in a follow up session how much work I had done however it was all done in my head and she offered to type up my plan as I talked it out.  I hadn’t realised before that I do a lot of reflection in my head that’s meaningful and she helped me feel that I’m not at all crazy as that’s how my mental health disorder can make me feel!

Working with Karen helped me feel more in control and more confident in managing the day to day ups and downs that life throws at you to help me with unpredictable work situations.

It was incredible to see the changes that I made from our first session to our last, it helped me move from being in crisis to managing day to day living much better.
